How to Spend Seven Days Setting Yourself Up for a Great Year
My very favorite week of the whole year starts tomorrow!
By Shaunta Grimes
Christmas is fun, of course. My kids are all home. We have family and friends coming for dinner tonight. We’re shifting everything forward a day because our oldest daughter is flying in from Oregon (where she’s a student) this afternoon — so we’ll open gifts tomorrow morning.
But my favorite week starts with making a really nice meal for the people I love most in the world. And just hanging out with them. We’ll watch It’s a Wonderful Life tonight, maybe play a board game or two.
And then . . . and then, you guys . . . I’ll spend the entire week between Christmas and New Year’s in planning mode.
For an idea person like me, this intense level of planning is the bomb. I get to luxuriate in thinking about the big picture. I get to spend as much time as I want to imagining the end result and I don’t have to do any of the action steps — yet.
Heaven.
I like to do one annual-planning exercise a day, every day of this awesome week. I’ll write more about each of these during the next week.
