“Still, round the corner, there may wait, A new road or a secret gate.”
— J. R. R. Tolkien
When is your story complete?
How do you know when the road ends?
As an artist, this is a hard feeling to come by, but when you do it’s the most satisfying feeling. It’s a feeling you can’t experience until your there and not a second before.
Sometimes it can feel like the ending to your stories journey will never arrive. Like you’re always looking for “a new road or a secret gate”. When you get that excruciating feeling of just wanting to be done, it’s important to remember what it feels like when the story is actually done.
It’s not a feeling that can be rushed.
Write about a time when you finished something.
